The Department of Theology and Religion has flourished at Durham University since its foundation in 1832 and has established an international reputation as one of the leading departments in its field. It works within a range of Christian traditions—and also outside them, though it is not a world religions department. Its traditional strengths lie in the fields of Biblical studies and Christian theology. In recent years it has also broadened its range of expertise to Jewish studies and to the sociology and anthropology of religion. Learning and research within the Department is focused on three key areas: Biblical studies, Christian theology and the Study of Religion.
The aim of this blog is to showcase the research and culture of the department. For any enquiries contact Dr Marcus Pound: email@example.com.
